It includes two distinct routes on two unique trains: the ViaRail Canadian and the Rocky Mountaineer.

This train lover’s trip begins with and evening departure from Vancouver and a night on the train in a private bedroom. The following morning you awake to magnificent scenery and a hot breakfast in the dining car.

You’ll have the day to enjoy the scenery and explore the train’s varied environments, from your private room to the lounge, club car and observation car before you arrive in Jasper National Park at 4:00 PM. Lunch is included in the dining car.

There will be time for evening wildlife viewing and a hot springs soak or a stroll around Jasper after you arrive.

After a night in Jasper National Park, the largest park in the Canadian Rockies, you’ll tour by motor coach to Banff along one of the three most beautiful highways in the world.

Along the way, you’ll stop at Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefield, Crowfoot Glacier, and Peyto Lake. At Columbia Icefield, ride the Ice Explorer onto the Athabasca Glacier. You’ll reach your Banff hotel in the early evening with time to relax, stroll around Banff or ride the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain.

After a night in Banff, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Banff train station where you’ll board the Rocky Mountaineer for your two day train journey to Vancouver. You’ll have a night in Kamloops en route and a night in Vancouver to round out this most memorable vacation.

4 Nights / 4 Days

Overview

The four night / four day Trans Canada journey between Vancouver and Toronto offers the fastest train travel between these two destinations. The train stops briefly several times, most notably for 90 minutes in Jasper National Park, so you have a chance to get off the train, stretch your legs and explore this quaint and isolated town in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

If you take the train between Toronto and Vancouver, you’ll have a number of sleeping options. The first is Coach. If you choose Coach Service, you’ll have a reclining seat with a foot rest, a pillow and a blanket. Meals are not included; however, you can bring food with you, pick it up at stops along the way or eat in the train’s snack bar. In the off season, meals are available in the dining car as well.

Your second option is an upper berth in a 6 berth shared sleeping car. There are three upper and three lower berths in each car. The upper berth differs from the lower berth not only because it is slightly harder to access, you have to climb a ladder to get into it, but also because the upper berth does not have a window. Lower berths have windows.

Lower berths, the third option, are easier to get into and out of and they have a window that runs the length of the sleeping area. Both upper and lower berths have a light, a fan, a privacy curtain with comfortable bedding and mattress. With both lower and upper berths, meals in the dining car are included.

The fourth accommodation option is a private bedroom for one, two or three people. Private bedrooms have a bed or beds, a sink and a toilet. In all cases, showers, located at the end of each car, are shared. There are very few private three bed rooms on each train, so they are never discounted and they sell out quickly. Often they are reserved by two people who prefer a private bedroom but don’t want to sleep in an upper berth.

Call 604-990-9299 or 1-800-913-9207 or Email us for more information and reservations.

The Trans-Canada Rail Adventure begins with an overnight stay in Vancouver on various dates between May 3 to September 27, 2012.

Overview

Trans Canada train journeys conjure up notions of classic rail adventures. And this year we have significantly expanded our Trans Canada rail options to give travelers even more opportunity to enjoy this wonderful experience.

Package range in length from a compact 4 night, three day straight shot from Vancouver to Toronto or Toronto to Vancouver to a leisurely 18 day trip with two days on the Rocky Mountaineer and nights and days on the ViaRail Canadian in a private bedroom, stays at historic Fairmont hotels and resorts, and a concluding, or commencing, night in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In between there are 7, 12 and 16 night trips that combine the Canadian Rockies with train travel and big cities. The 12 and 16 day trips include two trains: the Rocky Mountaineer and The ViaRail Canadian.

We have included seven Trans Canada train options. Some go between Vancouver and Toronto, others include Montreal and/or Quebec City. And some go all the way from Vancouver to Halifax, a journey of more than 6000 kilometers.

These packages are available with starts in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal or Halifax.

If you prefer a custom Trans Canada train trip, Email, call 800-913-9207 or 604-990-9299 and we will put together a trip that’s just the right for you. Custom trips are never more expensive than the train packages you see here.

After the Rocky Mountaineer train to Whistler leaves the North Vancouver station, it skirts the coast, goes under the Lions Gate bridge and continues along the shore of West Vancouver before it reaches the banks of Howe Sound. From there it hugs the coastline to Squamish.

Along the way, you’ll see ocean, mountains, rivers, lakes, the Porteau Cove campground and dive area, Britannia Beach historic community and the spectacular Shannon Falls.

Once you reach Squamish, the train leaves the ocean and goes into the Cheakamus Canyon before emerging in the rugged mountains where you’ll see glaciers and Brandywine Falls

If you have more than one day, we recommend your spending a night or two in Whistler. You’ll find Whistler hotels beautiful and affordable.

Call 604-990-9299 or 1-800-913-9207 or Email us for more information or Book Online Now.

Once you arrive in Whistler, there’s a lot to do. Take the Peak to Peak gondola between Whistler and Blackcomb mountain, go ziptrekking, walk around Lost Lake or visit Whistler Village shops and restaurants. There’s also time for flight seeing over glaciers and rugged mountain ranges.
