Myth: You sleep on the train.
Reality: The Rocky Mountaineer is an all daylight train. You’ll spend two days on the train and overnight at a hotel. That way you won’t sleep through any of the beautiful scenery and you’ll get a good night’s sleep.

Myth: Rocky Mountaineer tours are train tours so you’ll spend the whole time on the train.
Reality: Nearly all one-way Rocky Mountaineer train trips include two days on the train. Nearly all circle tours include four days on the train. The remainder of your time is spent exploring and relaxing in the Canadian Rockies.
Once you reach the Canadian Rockies on the Rocky Mountaineer, Transportation and tours are by motor coach or, if you prefer, your own rental car.

Myth: If you choose GoldLeaf Service, you have to stay in superior or deluxe hotels.
Reality: Rocky Mountaineer lets you choose your train service (RedLeaf or GoldLeaf) AND your hotel type (popular, superior or deluxe). You can choose RedLeaf Service with either popular or superior hotels and GoldLeaf Service with popular, superior or deluxe hotels. Your choices will impact the price of your trip.

Myth: There is no significant difference between RedLeaf and GoldLeaf Service.
Reality: GoldLeaf Service offers the following upgrades: seating in an elevated dome car; chef prepared meals in the GoldLeaf Dining Car; an outdoor viewing platform; complimentary alcoholic beverages; dinner in Kamloops or Quesnel and that special GoldLeaf feeling.

Myth: Rocky Mountaineer tours are non-escorted, so I’ll be left to fend for myself.
Reality: Rocky Mountaineer train tours ARE non-escorted. However, Rocky Mountaineer leaves nothing to chance. These tours include all transfers, all luggage handling, and tour guides.The friendly Rocky Mountaineer staff is dedicated to looking after you, your luggage and your connections all along the way.

Myth: Rocky Mountaineer train vacations don’t give me the flexibility I need to see and do what I want in the Canadian Rockies.
Reality: Your Rocky Mountaineer train trip is almost 100% customizable. Trains depart for and from the Rockies each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. That can’t be changed. Everything else can be and we will make sure your Rocky Mountaineer trip suits your needs and schedule perfectly.
