Overview
The 2012 Northern Explorer includes a night in Vancouver before you embark on the Rocky Mountaineer to Whistler, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. You’ll spend the night in Whistler Village before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer for your two day train journey to Jasper. This train tour follows a rugged, northern route so you’ll be treated to spectacular scenery from start to finish.
When you reach Jasper, you’ll have a full day to explore. This Rocky Mountaineer package includes guided motor coach tours of Jasper, Columbia Icefield, the Athabasca Glacier, Yoho National Park and Banff. A helicopter flightseeing tour is included on your journey between Banff and Calgary.
This vacation begins with an overnight stay in Vancouver on various dates between May 19 – September 25, 2012.
If you prefer more time in the Canadian Rockies, we can add extra nights in both Lake Louise and Banff. Departure Dates for this package, the Northern Rockies at Leisure, are the same as the Northern Explorer.

- RedLeaf Service - Reserved seating in comfortable, traditional train cars with picture windows. Breakfast and lunch are served at your seat each day and nonalcoholic beverages are included.
- GoldLeaf Service – Reserved seating in the GoldLeaf elevated dome car. Breakfast and lunch are served in the GoldLeaf dining car and GoldLeaf passengers have access to the outdoor viewing platform.
