The Chateau Lake Louise and the Rocky Mountaineer

Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The setting is perfect and the lake is magnificent, both in the summer when the water is azure and in the winter when the lake is frozen. In the winter you will also find an ice castle, built by the staff at the Chateau Lake Louise, that sits on the lake near the shore.

But it’s not only the location and the lake that makes Lake Louise such a desirable and immensely popular destination. It’s also the fact that at one end of the lake is the blue ice Victoria Glacier and, to balance the scene, at the other end of the lake is the magnificent Chateau Lake Louise.

People come from all over the world to see Lake Louise and to stay or at least stroll around the grounds and eat in the Chateau’s restaurants. The public rooms, the award winning restaurants and the exclusive boutiques at the Chateau are worth a day’s visit or more.

Even if you’re not planning to stay at the Chateau Lake Louise, a visit is a must if you’re planning to be in the Canadian Rockies.

The best way to get to the Chateau Lake Louise is to take the Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Banff, spend a night in Banff, and then travel the 30 miles from Banff to Lake Louise.

Rocky Moutaineer offers tours that feature Lake Louise and include stays at the Chateau Lake Louise, and a guided lakeside stroll is always scheduled during your time at the Chateau.

The most popular tour is the 5 night Canadian Rockies Highlights that includes two days on the Rocky Mountaineer and overnight stays in Banff, the Chateau Lake Louise, Vancouver and Calgary. This Lake Louise feature tour includes a helicopter tour of nearby glaciers as well.
