Rocky Mountaineer Trans Canada Trip

Rocky Mountaineer & ViaRail

The Rocky Mountaineer train travels between Vancouver and Jasper National Park, Lake Louise and Banff National Park. It doesn’t go any farther east than Jasper. However, it’s possible to take a Trans Canada train trip that includes the Rocky Mountaineer train if you combine a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer with a trip on the ViaRail train.

The ViaRail train travels from Vancouver to Halifax, in other words, from the west coast of Canada to the east coast of Canada. You can, of course, board in Vancouver and take the train as far as you like. However, you can also enjoy the luxury of the Rocky Mountaineer to the Canadian Rockies and pick up the ViaRail train in Jasper.

Rocky Mountaineer Connector Packages

While we no longer offer packages that include the ViaRail portion of the Trans Canada Trip, we do have our 6 night or 5 night Connector Package. This package is designed to coincide with either departures from Jasper National Park eastward to Toronto, Montreal and Halifax or from one of those destinations westward to Jasper National Park, Banff National Park ending in Vancouver.

This package connects with VIA Rail’s Canadian, a 3 day and 3 night journey from Toronto to Jasper. That train arrives in Jasper from Toronto on Wednesdays and Saturdays (subject to change). We recommend you book the ViaRail portion of the trip yourself, because it’s easy to do and, that way, you’ll get the best price. Call ViaRail at 888-842-7245 or visit their website at VIARail for the lowest prices.

If you want to start in Vancouver and travel to Toronto and points east, we have an Eastbound Connector package that gives you a chance to visit both Banff National Park and Jasper National Park before you board the ViaRail train for your three day / three night trip from Jasper to Toronto.

In other words, we are happy to help you with every aspect of your trip but we don’t make ViaRail train reservations and we don’t make hotel reservations for any hotels east of Jasper National Park. We are happy to show you exactly how to make reservations, suggest hotels you will enjoy in Toronto, Montreal and Halifax and to enjoy along the way.
